Biography.
Mavis Penney's art explores landscape and the environment by combining digital imagery and traditional painting methods. Her most recent artwork follows the style that earned her thirty years of participating in provincial and national group shows, two solo exhibitions in the province's Arts and Culture Centers Art Galleries, as well as a one-year Canada Council Artist-in-Residence Grant.
A graduate of Memorial
University, Concordia University and Sheridan College, Mavis Penney
is a long time proponent of the development and strengthening of
visual arts in the province. She is an active member of community-based arts advocacy groups
in the province.
Mavis Penney's work is
represented in public collections of the province of Newfoundland
and Labrador and in private Canadian and international
collections.
